SACO — Therese M. Mercier, 92, of Saco, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015, at the home of her son in Poland.

She was born June 12, 1923, a daughter of Oliva and Yvonne (Prince) Lariviere, and was educated in Biddeford schools.

On March 17, 1943, she married Maurice J. Mercier in St. Andre’s Church in Biddeford.

Therese worked at Pepperell Mfg. for several years before leaving to care for her family. She later worked at Evergreen Manor in Saco for 25 years. In her retirement in 1988, she worked for local attorney Rick Hull in Biddeford.

She enjoyed knitting, cooking, crocheting and crafts. Taking care of all who entered her life, she loved to shop, but always bought for everyone else.

She is preceded in death by: her husband, Maurice J. Mercier Sr. in 2014, to whom she was married 71 years; her daughter, Lorraine Boudreau in 2011; her son, Ralph Mercier in 2013; a grandson, Mickey Mercier in 1992; a great-great-grandson,

Liam Mahaney in 2011; two brothers, Gerard and Robert Lariviere; and three sisters, Lillian McGee, Lucille Lariviere, and Priscilla Fortier.

She is survived by: three sons, Maurice J. Mercier Jr. and his wife Dorothy of Arundel, Raymond Mercier and his wife Linda of Asheville, North Carolina, and Ron Mercier and his fiancée Doris Doughty of Poland; five daughters, Annette Brown and Carolyn Scott of Biddeford, Priscilla Dube and her partner John Kibbin of Biddeford, Lucille Libby and her husband Roger of Saco, and Diane Pepin and her husband Andy of Biddeford; two sisters, Sister Rita Lariviere (Sisters of Charity) of Quebec, and Estelle Lariviere of Old Orchard Beach; 31 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews .

Visiting hours will be 6- 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford, ME 04005.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Biddeford.
