HOUSTON, Texas – Alberick Joseph Martin, 79, passed away on Oct. 14, 2015, at his home in Houston.

He was born on June 18, 1936, in Wallagrass to the late Cyprien and Adrienne (Marin) Martin.

He graduated from Thornton Academy in 1955, where he excelled as a threesport athlete. Following graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the U.S.S. Henley. In 1959, he joined the Saco Police Department where he spent the next 21 years, retiring as police chief in 1980. After moving to Limington for three years, he moved his family to Fort Kent and worked for Great Northern Paper, again retiring in 1998.

Al is preceded in death by: his parents, and daughter Robin.

He is survived by: his wife of 48 years, Hilary von Mering Martin in Houston; son, Thomas in Atlanta; daughter, Kristen Martin- Claret in Houston, and daughter, Shari and sons David and Steve in Montana. He is also survived by: five brothers, Goderick (wife Jeanne), Alderick, Richard (wife Janine) and Roger (wife Mary Ann) in Saco, Frederick (wife Vivian) in Davenport, Florida; three sisters Pauline Frazier, Anne Marie Rousselle (husband Roland) and Patricia Beaudoin (husband Roland) in Saco; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Per his request, there was no public service. A private family celebration of life was recently held in Al’s honor.
