RICHMOND — North Yarmouth Academy opened with a 3-pointer by Maggie Larson before Richmond came back for a 54-19 victory Wednesday night in a schoolgirl basketball game.
Richmond scored the next 24 points and limited NYA to three shots in the first 12 minutes while forcing 22 turnovers and collecting 18 offensive rebounds.
The starters played the first and third quarters and dominated, led by Sydney Tilton (13 points, eight rebounds, three assists, three steals) and Kelsea Anair (nine points, seven rebounds, five steals).
The Bobcats took 42 shots to the Panthers’ nine in the first half but made 29 percent.
FREEPORT 64, WAYNFLETE 34: Kayla Belanger scored a game-high 15 points to lead the Falcons (1-1) over the Flyers (1-2) at Portland.
Regan Lynch added 13 points and Taylor Rinaldi chipped in with 11 for Freeport, which led 31-21 at halftime.
Annika Brooks led Waynflete with 14 points.
SANFORD 56, BIDDEFORD 32: Summer Camire hit three 3-pointers in the first period and the Spartans (1-1) went on to beat Biddeford (0-2) at Sanford.
Camire finished with 15 points. Charlotte White scored 16 for the Tigers.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
BOOTHBAY REGION 72, MT. ABRAM 35: Graham Bryer scored 19 points and Jacob Leonard added 17 to lead the Seahawks (1-2) over Mt. Abram (0-3) at Boothbay Harbor.
Kyle Ames added 14 points with four 3-pointers for Boothbay.
Dan Luce led Mt. Abram with 14 points.
GREELY 81, YORK 67: Jordan Bagshaw scored 37 points while leading Greely (2-0) over the Wildcats (1-1) at York.
The Rangers gradually opened a 41-30 halftime lead, then outscored York 25-9 in the third quarter for a 66-39 advantage. Bagshaw scored nine points in the third quarter and Matt McDevitt added six.
McDevitt finished with 17 points and Caleb Normandeau 10 for Greely. Trevor LaBonte scored 22 and Spencer Cribby 16 for York.
RICHMOND 54, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 32: Zach Small scored all 11 of the points for the Bobcats (2-0) in the second quarter and added 11 in the third against the Panthers (0-2) at Richmond.
Richmond took a 20-7 halftime lead, then scored the first six points of the third quarter.
Small finished with a game-high 25 points, and Cody Tribbet added eight for Richmond, including a pair of 3-pointers.
Haven Cutko led NYA with 15 points.
GIRLS’ HOCKEY
SCARBOROUGH/SACOPEE VALLEY 5, EDWARD LITTLE/LEAVITT/POLAND 1: Sami Shoebottom had three unassisted goals as Scarborough/Sacopee Valley (5-0-1) scored five unanswered goals against Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland (3-2-1) at Saco.
Haley Frolich scored from Abby Roy to give Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland an early lead before Shoebottom answered.
FALMOUTH 11, YARMOUTH/FREEPORT/GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 4: Camden Carrier scored three goals, and Reade Carmichael had two goals and an assist as eight players scored for the Yachtsmen (4-0-2) against Yarmouth/Freeport/Gray-New Gloucester (2-5) at Falmouth.
Katie Clemmer scored twice for Yarmouth/Freeport/Gray-New Gloucester.
TUESDAY’S GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
CHEVERUS 56, PORTLAND 46: Emme Poulin scored a game-high 19 points, and Brooke McElman and Deirdre Sanborn each had eight to lead the visiting Stags (2-0) over the Bulldogs (0-2) at Portland.
