ROCKLAND – A Maine State Prison inmate who stabbed another prisoner 87 times is going to spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Richard Stahursky expressed no remorse Thursday before the sentence was imposed Thursday. WABI-TV reported that he told the judge that he sleeps better knowing that the victim, a convicted sex offender, “is not alive.”

Stahursky pleaded guilty with the stipulation that he’d be allowed to address the judge. He acknowledged he killed Micah Boland for causing him to lose a prison job and said he decided to “become the judge jury and executioner of that sex offender.”

Stahursky was originally sentenced for armed robbery, and has been in trouble in prison. He was previously convicted of two inmate stabbings, assaulting a corrections officer and setting a fire.
