Have you had enough presidential campaigning yet? (Only 11 more months!)

Wouldn’t it be nice if the whole thing could be done in a month or two?

Well, if you lived in Canada or England or nearly any other “free world” country, that’s exactly what you would have – because of their parliamentary system.

And the candidate you voted for, besides being eligible to lead the Parliament, would’ve campaigned only in your state.

His or her speechifying would’ve been particularly relevant to you. And he or she could quickly get back to the real job of duking it out in Parliament without being politically in debt to the whole country.

The traditional slam against multiple parties is that “nothing gets done with so many different interests.” And from the perspective of a die-hard two-party supporter who realizes that two can be co-opted more easily than three or four, I guess he’s right.
