BOSTON — Officials say an airplane landed safely at Logan International Airport after a drone was spotted near its flight path.

The Boston Globe reports the Federal Aviation Administration says a JetBlue crew reported seeing an unmanned aircraft as it approached to land at Logan Airport around 12:15 p.m. Friday.

The flight from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport landed safely.

State police were notified and an investigation was opened.

It was the second time in a week a crew spotted a drone near Logan Airport.

An Air Canada Express flight crew reported seeing a drone as its aircraft was landing at Logan Airport on Christmas Day.

That flight also landed safely.

A center at Bard College recently counted at least 241 reports of close encounters between drones and manned aircraft.
