Bob’s Discount Furniture held a grand opening celebration for its new Scarborough store on Dec. 26. The store is located at 700 Gallery Blvd., adjacent to Walmart.

In addition to a ribbon cutting ceremony the event included face painting, balloon clowns and giveaways. In addition, prior to re-opening the store, which moved to Scarborough from Clark’s Pond in South Portland, Bob’s Discount Furniture also gave out $10,000 in donations to several local nonprofit organizations.

Among those benefiting were Camp Ketcha, the Scarborough Food Pantry, the Fiddlehead Center for the Arts, Blue Point Primary School and Scarborough Middle School.

The company’s website states that Bob’s Discount Furniture provides “a wide variety of quality furnishings at everyday low prices.” Each store also features an in-store cafe?, offering free gourmet coffee, ice cream, cookies and candy. Since 1991, Bob’s has become the 14th-largest furniture chain in the United States with 64 stores located throughout New England and the East Coast.
