A new YMCA is opening this week on the site of the former the Brunswick Naval Air Station.
The Landing Y’s grand opening is scheduled for Tuesday.
The military base, which closed in 2011 and is currently in the midst of a major redevelopment effort, is now called Brunswick Landing.
The Landing Y will occupy the air station’s former gymnasium at 24 Venture Drive. The health and fitness club will feature a rubber-surfaced basketball court, three pickleball courts, a stretching and weight equipment area, two group exercise rooms, a community room, as well as men’s and women’s locker rooms with saunas.
Members of the Bath Area Family YMCA will be able to use the Brunswick YMCA. The Bath YMCA already draws members from the midcoast region, including 1,000 Brunswick residents.
