Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has record-breaking support from individual Americans, much more than even Barack Obama. And without any contributions from wealthy or corporate sources, he is closing in on Hillary Clinton, who is totally dependent on big, monied interests.

This historically significant event, however, was barely reported. It appeared on Page A8, two pages from the last page of the front section of the Jan. 3 Maine Sunday Telegram: “Sanders reports donation haul.”
