Two men have been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a Westbrook car wash late Monday night

Jamie Earl Brown, 38, and Russell Ware, 41, were charged with robbery, criminal restraint and theft of a firearm stemming from the robbery at Tom and Jerry’s car wash at 307 Main St. in which the robbers tied up the owner and his wife, ransacked the business and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

Brown and Ware are being held at the Cumberland County Jail in Portland. There is no known link between the victims and the suspects, police said.

Westbrook police received a citizen’s tip that led investigators to both suspects within hours. Police also gathered evidence that tied the men to the crimes, they said. The arrests were the result of a collaboration between the Westbrook and Portland police departments, and the Maine Violent Offender’s Task Force.
