BOSTON — A student at Emerson College came up with a creative way to offset the astronomical cost of an education – he listed his dorm room on Airbnb.
But Emerson administrators are none too happy with 19-year-old sophomore Jack Worth and are considering disciplinary action against him for violating school policies.
Worth tells Boston.com he posted his room in mid-January and hosted three guests before the school told him to remove his posting Friday. He was fined $150 by Airbnb.
He said he posted the room because he wanted to make a little money and because of Emerson’s convenient location.
Emerson said in an email that any attempt to sublet or rent a dorm room violates school policies.
Worth said he had not read anything along those lines.
