More than 2,000 homes lost power Sunday evening when a piece of equipment on a utility pole in Eliot caught fire and burned a wire down.
The fire occurred on Route 236, according to Central Maine Power Co.
CMP said 2,049 of its customers in Eliot and Kittery were affected. The incident occurred about 5:30 p.m. and power was restored around 7:40 p.m.
