KENNEBUNK — A police officer who was injured when her cruiser was hit by a pickup truck Saturday afternoon has been released from the hospital.

Police Chief Robert MacKenzie this morning said the crash that injured officer Audra Higgins remains under investigation and will be reconstructed.

Higgins was in the process of trying to close down Webber Hill Road (Route 99) late Saturday afternoon due to icy conditions caused by drifting snow when her cruiser was hit on the driver’s side by a westbound pickup truck.

MacKenzie said Higgins was treated and released from Maine Medical Center in Portland. She is currently off duty, and MacKenzie this morning had no word on when she will be able to return to work.

He said the investigation is ongoing; so far, no one has been charged in connection with the crash.
