SACO — Last year, Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution donated more than $350,000, which was shared by more than 470 organizations and nonprofits throughout Maine.

Beneficiaries include food pantries and meal programs, schools, service programs, health and wellness programs, art programs, environmental preservation programs and many other local nonprofits.

Part of the bank’s 2015 donations included over $150,000 for humanitarian assistance and to human-needs organizations, including hospitals, social services programs and more. The bank also contributed close to $90,000 to educational programs around southern Maine.

Continuing its community giving this year, the bank in January contributed more than $16,500 to local food pantries and meal programs to help restock shelves that were depleted from the holidays. This most recent donation is in addition to the support that the bank provides these food programs throughout the year.
