As the Republican-controlled Senate deigns not even to consider the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Merrick Garland, as their constitutional obligation requires, imagine that the Democrats win the presidency and control of the Senate in the 2016 election. And imagine that the new Democratic president nominates Barack Obama to replace deceased Justice Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court.
