From the Journal Tribune: “Thanks to Kathy Nolan, many school areas now offer dance classes as part of their curriculum, an important stepping stone for students who want to major in dance during college. Nolan has parlayed her career as a dancer and teacher into the massive undertaking that has become the Thornton Academy Dance Festival.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “Building plans on a six and one-half acre site in Saco’s Industrial Park were announced today by Clifford Purvis, president of the Industrial Park Corporation. Purvis, who said he did not want to reveal the name of the company at this time, stated construction would begin sometime in the late spring or early summer.”

100 years ago

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “Thomas Walsh, who was before the court on March 31, and later off on probation, was given a sentence of 30 days at the Alfred Jail on the old charge and 30 days additional on a new charge, by Recorder Harris in the police court this morning. He was arrested Friday in an ‘intoxicated condition.’ John Driscoll was ordered to pay a fine of $1 and costs, while sentence was suspended in the case of Albert Linscott of Sanford.”
