CAMDEN – A lawyer for Don McLean says the “American Pie” singer’s domestic violence case in Maine is not close to an end.

McLean, who lives in Camden, was arrested in January on charges including domestic violence assault. He has pleaded not guilty.

Attorney Walter McKee says the case is scheduled for a court conference on Thursday. Lawyers will meet with a judge to go over the status of the case. McLean will not be there.

McLean’s wife filed a handwritten request for protection after the January arrest. The couple later announced through McKee that the protection order had been dismissed.

McLean’s wife filed for divorce last month. Legal papers cite “adultery, cruel and abusive treatment, and irreconcilable differences.”
