University of Maine baseball coach Steve Trimper signed a three-year contract extension Wednesday, running through the end of the 2019 season.

Trimper is in his 11th season as the Black Bears’ head coach. He will be paid an annual salary of $86,995 for the three years of the extension, beginning July 1 and ending June 30, 2019.

“I am pleased and honored to continue my coaching career at the University of Maine,” Trimper said in a press release. “To me, there is no greater place in college baseball to work with student-athletes and give them a great college experience.”

Trimper has led Maine to two NCAA Regional tournament appearances. The Black Bears have also appeared in six consecutive America East tournaments.

The Black Bears are 11-23 (2-6 in America East) heading into a weekend series at Hartford.

“We are excited for the future of Maine baseball under coach Trimper’s leadership and guidance,” said Karlton Creech, Maine’s athletic director. “We are focused on providing our student-athletes with the qualities needed to succeed in the classroom and on the field and we are confident that coach Trimper is the premier leader to meet our goals.”
