Nadeen Daniels has won a Democratic primary for Cumberland County Registrar of Probate, beating her opponent Jessica Joseph.

Daniels won the election 5,882-4,145, claiming 59 percent of the vote. She will challenge Republican James Hughes in the November election for a four-year term as registrar. The position is a full-time job with a $47,240 annual salary and benefits.

Daniels, 58, of Portland has worked in municipal government for decades and is currently special projects coordinator for Cumberland County.
