A Portland man used a cellphone to call for help after his car crashed and he was thrown from it in Gorham early Friday.
Gorham police said the crash occurred on the Rines Bypass about 3 a.m. Friday. They said a car driven by Arthur Rickett Jr., 24, went off the road and into the woods and he was thrown from the car.
Rickett used his cellphone to call 911.
Police and rescue workers couldn’t find Rickett or the car initially and used air horns to communicate as they looked for the vehicle and Rickett.
After they found him, Rickett was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with serious injuries.
Police said the crash is under investigation.
