The State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Cape Elizabeth Police Department are investigating the cause of a vehicle fire that was reported Saturday evening on Two Lights Terrace.

Cape Elizabeth’s Fire Chief Peter Gleeson said the fire destroyed a van that had been parked in a driveway.

There was a report of what sounded like an explosion.

“The sound of tires popping can sound like a bomb going off,” Gleeson explained.

No one was injured as a result of the vehicle fire, which was reported around 5 p.m. Two Lights Terrace is located off Two Lights Road.
