BRISTOL, Conn. — Stephen “Steve” L. Roy, 52, of Bristol, loving husband of Lisa (Lachance) Roy (originally of Biddeford), passed away Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at Bristol Hospital.

Steve was born in Bristol on Oct. 19, 1963. He spent his career as a painter with Allstate Painting Co., working with his father until ultimately taking over the family business.

When Steve wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time collecting sports memorabilia. He also loved sports; he was a diehard fan of the New York Mets and the St. Louis Rams. Steve was very proud of his 1973 classic Cadillac, and most recently started to enjoy camping again.

Most importantly, Steve loved spending time with his family and friends. He was always very friendly and personable.

In addition to his wife, Steve is survived by: a son, Stephen L. Roy of Bristol; his mother and step-father, Sandra Hafford-Utterback and Robert Utterback of Bristol; his father and stepmother, Llewellyn “Lew” and Joyce Roy of Micco, Florida; a brother and sister-in-law, Timothy and Georgina Roy of Bristol; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, Connecticut. Funeral services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Bethel Christian Church, 750 Stevens St., Bristol. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
