Regarding the Sept. 11 editorial “Our View: Study shows real issue behind instant gun checks” (Page D2):

It is incomprehensible to me that anyone would oppose universal background checks preceding gun purchases.

It is a public health issue. Would anyone think it’s acceptable for only some blood banks to screen for hepatitis or HIV?

A gun is designed to kill things. It is insane that we make it easier to buy a gun than to become a licensed driver. All firearms purchases should require background checks. It must be made illegal for anybody, anywhere to circumvent them. Anything short of that puts us all at risk.

Do vote “yes” on Question 3. It’s for all of us.
