Office hours

The Town Office, at Mallett Hall, is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday 8:30 a.m.-6:30 and closed Friday. The office will not be open on Tuesday, Nov. 8, as all employees will be working on the election, or on Thanksgiving, Thusday, Nov. 24.

Meetings

The Board of Selectmen will meet on Mondays, Nov. 14 and 28, at 7 p.m., at Mallett Hall in the Dewitt Meeting Room.

The Planning Board will hold a workshop meeting Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 8 a.m., at Mallett Hall, to discuss defining tiny houses and outlining zoning requirements.

Absentee ballots are now available at the town office, 429 Hallowell Road, for the Nov. 8 election. Residents can vote at the town office, come to the office and take the ballot home, or have a ballot mailed to them. Voting is from 7 a.m.-8 p.m., on Election Day at the Town Hall. Annual arts, crafts

show Nov. 19-20

Bradbury Mountain Arts 18th annual holiday show and sale of fine art and crafts will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 20, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at Mallett Hall, 429 Hallowell Road, Route 9, in Pownal Center. Some 17 artists will show painting, photography, sculpture, printmaking, sailcloth bags, jewelry, wood-turning, ceramics, fiber arts and more. Warm food and baked goods will be sold by Girl Scouts. The event is free and handicap accessible.

The North Pownal United Methodist Church will host its last bean supper of the season, Saturday, Nov. 5, starting at 4:30 p.m. A time of prayer is at 4. On the menu are yellow, kidney and pea beans, potato salad, cole slaw, spaghetti with meat sauce, homemade brown bread and biscuits, in-house made pickled beets and pickles, homemade pies, coffee, tea and punch. The cost is $8, $4 for children 4-12, under 4 eat free.

IMPACT seeks

local involvement

IMPACT is the parent-teacher organization at Pownal Elementary School whose mission is to provide educational and enrichment opportunities for the students at the school. Those in the community with a particular skill or hobby – woodworking, craftsmanship, hunting, fishing, math, reading, writing, wildlife, ecosystems, history, cooking, chemistry or others – who would be interested in bringing a learning enhancement opportunity to the kids in grades K-5 can contact IMPACT at impactpes@hotmail.com.

IMPACT meetings are the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the school.

Food pantry adds

more hours

The North Pownal United Methodist Church Food Pantry on 851 Lawrence Road is now open every Thursday evening from 4 to 6, in addition to Wednesday from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The pantry never knows from week to week what it will be getting. Fellowship, coffee and snacks are served before food distribution. The pantry helps those in need and welcomes everyone. Donations are appreciated. The church office number is 688-4938.

Men’s breakfast

held monthly

The First Parish Congregational Church of Pownal monthly Men’s Breakfast is held the first Saturday of the month, from September to June, at 7:30 a.m., at the church. The breakfast open to any men who want to come, regardless of affiliation. The Rev. John Wentworth leads the discussions.

North Pownal United Methodist Church worship service is Sunday at 9 a.m., led by the Rev. Raymond St. Pierre. Sunday School for children and adults begins at 10:30 a.m. St. Pierre’s hours are Wednesday from 9 a.m.-noon and Thursdays by appointment only at 688-4938.
