BIDDEFORD — Bail has been set at $20,000 cash each for two Lewiston women involved in an armed robbery in Biddeford over the weekend. 

Kaylee Bernier, 20, and Monica Durgin, 23, were arrested Sunday for allegedly robbing the 7B Corner Store on Elm Street around 6 p.m., police said. 

Dep. Police Chief JoAnne Fisk said Tuesday the two women allegedly left a 6-year-old child in their car while they held a store employee at gunpoint, making off with electronics. 

Fisk said the store employee called police, who were able to arrest the two women while they were still at the store. 

Bernier and Durgin were both charged with robbery and endangering the welfare of a child. 

Bernier, who police said allegedly brandished the firearm, was additionally charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon. 

Bail was not an option and the two were both transported to the York County Jail in Alfred. Both made initial court appearances on Monday, where bail was set at $20,000 each, jail officials said.  

Police said the Department of Health and Human Services was contacted about the child, who Fisk said belong to Durgin. The child, who is not being identified, was placed in the custody of a Lewiston relative.
