Pamela Brant of Westbrook recently submitted a thoughtful and transparent letter to the editor (Jan. 28) comparing the rude, crass and deplorable behavior of some celebrities and Hollywood directors to those of our president.

She wondered why the women who marched on Washington disdain our president’s actions but not those of folks we may see on TV, stage or in movie theaters.

The reason? In a free society, I can turn off the TV and not buy tickets to those movies or concerts. In a free society, I can (and do) choose to resist the actions of a president and his administration that go against my beliefs, my heart and my very soul.
