The crash of a pickup truck shut down Route 25, also known as Ossipee Trail, in Limington for five hours Saturday night.

The York County Sheriff’s Office reported that a Toyota Tundra driven by Amanda Knight, 34, of Hiram hit a utility pole at about 6:30 p.m., snapping it in two and sending wires and a transformer into both lanes of the road.

Neither Knight nor her passenger, Steven Nelson, 32, of Hiram, was hurt.

Police said the accident happened as Knight took her eyes off the road to retrieve a purse from the floor of the truck.

It took emergency crews five hours to repair the pole and clear the scene. The road reopened at 11:40 p.m.
