BIDDEFORD — The Board of Incorporators of Saint Andre Home has appointed Sister Therese Gauvin to serve as executive director of the agency. 

She has been serving as provincial superior of the American Province for the Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (Good Shepherd Sisters) since December 2015.

Born in Biddeford, Sister Terry entered the Good Shepherd Sisters community in 1966. She graduated from Merrimack College in Andover, Massachusetts, in 1974 with a bachelor of science degree in sociology and psychology. She earned a master’s degree in administration from Boston College in 1992, and also holds a license as an associate social worker.

Gauvin has previously ministered at St. Ann’s Home in Methuen, Massachusetts, and at St. Andre Home.

During her career, she has also served as principal of the former St. Joseph School in Biddeford, Sacred Heart School in Bradford, Massachusetts, and as a youth minister for the St. John Parish in South Portland.

Saint Andre Home maintains numerous programs and services including The Center for Parenting and Play for supported visitation between parents and children; play therapy; child-parent psychotherapy; case management services, the Connected Family Parenting Series; and the Adult Outpatient Counseling, all at its 168 Prospect St. location in Biddeford.

It also operates Hope Rising, which is the first residential program of its kind in Maine, offering comprehensive residential, clinical, and career services to survivors of sex trafficking.
