SANFORD — Yoga, knitting, an interview with a local writer about his new book and more activities  are all on tap at Louis B.  Goodall Memorial Library, 952 Main St., starting Wednesday:

• Stressed? Folks are invited to learn and practice stretches, yoga positions, tai chi exercises, and deep breathing while seated in a chair or standing (with a chair for support if needed).  Classes are led by Cindy Simon, M.A., NCC , RMT. All classes are held once a month, on Wednesdays, from 6:30-7:15 p.m., with the next class set for Wednesday, Nov. 1 and followed by a class Dec. 6.

• With winter approaching, it is a good time to pick up your knitting again. The knitting group meets at 6:30 p.m., on the first Thursday night of the month, with the next sessions Nov. 2 and Dec. 7.  Refreshments are provided.  Organizers say it is the perfect time to bring a project you’ve been working on and enjoy the company of others in a relaxed setting.

• Local writer Shawn P. Sullivan will discuss and sign copies of his new book, “Islands in the Chaotic Ocean of Life,” at Goodall Library on Wednesday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m. Released in August, the book is a collection of slice-of-life columns that Sullivan wrote between 2006 and 2014, during his time as editor of the former weekly newspaper, The Sanford News. The book chronicles the comedic and heartwarming highlights of Sullivan’s life as a family man and also follows his father’s brave and devastating seven-year battle against ALS.

• Coloring Calm, Goodall Library’s coloring workshop, continues 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Mondays, Nov.  27, and Dec.  18. Coloring sheets and supplies will be provided (or you can bring your own).  Color in a relaxing group setting with music and refreshments.  Adult coloring, a focused and meditative activity, has been shown to have many positive benefits, mental and physical.     FMI contact Deidre or Jean @ 324-4714 or visit :  www.lbgoodall.org.
