Diego Villamarin of Auburn is the first across the finish line at Sunday’s Polar Bear Dash 5K in Portland. Despite wind-chill temperatures well below zero, nearly 140 people finished the 10th annual New Year’s Eve fundraising run for the Natural Resources Council of Maine, although the scheduled dip at East End Beach was canceled because of the weather. The event raised about $26,000. (Diane Hudson / For The Forecaster)
