LEWISTON — Police arrested a Lewiston man Wednesday who they said dragged a woman behind a vehicle on Pine Street.

Police were called to Pine and Horton streets at 8:42 a.m. Officers found a 53-year-old woman with scrapes and bruises. She was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said in a statement.

After speaking with witnesses and reviewing security video, police found the vehicle they believed was involved in the incident and took a suspect into custody on Bradley Street, according to Sgt. James Theiss.

The driver, Daniel Chamberland, 28, was charged with reckless conduct with a motor vehicle, a felony. He also was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and driving to endanger, both misdemeanors. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant for assault.

The suspect and victim knew each other. Police determined the incident was not a motor vehicle accident nor was it a case of domestic violence.
