You’re feeling sleepy…

A comedy/hypnosis show featuring hypnotist Steve Marino is set to occur on Friday, March 16, 7 p.m. at the GNG high school cafeteria. Doors open at 6 p.m. This is a family-friendly event to benefit GNG Project Graduation. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets are available at the door until they sell out. Shaker Village workshops

The Shakers are among the best-known craftspeople in American history; their legacy includes fine examples of woodworking, textile arts, basket making, metalwork, music, gardening, cooking, and more. Learn age-old crafts and modern spins on their tradition from local artisans and makers. All workshops take place at Shaker Village, working in historic buildings with serene views all around; learning about and carrying on the traditional crafts of the Shakers and our region.

Maple sugaring for kids

It’s time to collect the sap from the maple trees at Pineland Farms and turn it into delicious maple syrup. The group will learn how this naturally sweet treat is made to awaken everyone’s taste buds this sugaring season.

The family program, open to ages 3 and up, will be held on Saturday, March 17, from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Education Barn, 100B Valley Farm Road. The program is repeated during the same time slot on Thursday, March 22 and Tuesday, March 27. The cost is $5 per person. School board budget workshop

On Wednesday, March 28, a school board budget workshop will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Meetinghouse, 389 Intervale Road. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and their input is welcome. Superintendent Craig King, plus business and operations director Diane Boucher, will join the school board panel to field comments and questions.

 Nomination papers

Nomination papers for local offices are now available at the town office, 385 Intervale Road. There are two, three-year term seats open for the New Gloucester Board of Selectmen. For the SAD 15 Board of Directors in New Gloucester, there is one, three-year term seat and one completion of a 2019 term seat. Nomination papers must be signed by at least 25 registered NG voters, but not more than 100. Signed papers must be returned by 2 p.m. on Friday, April 13, for certification.

There is also one, three-year term seat open for a Trustee on the New Gloucester Water District. Interested parties should contact the town staff to learn the proper protocol to follow. 

Polls are open on Election Day, Tuesday, June 12, from 6 a.m. – 8 p.m., at the Fire Station, 611 Lewiston Road, New Gloucester.
