ROCHESTER, Minn.

Bowdoin College senior Kate Kerrigan has been named the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Division III National Player of the Year in awards announced at the NCAA Championship Banquet on Thursday evening.

It is the second time that a Bowdoin player has received Division III women’s basketball’s highest honor, as Kerrigan joins Eileen Flaherty, who received the award in 2007. Kerrigan was also named as a WBCA Division III All-American.

The award is the latest honor for the distinguished Bowdoin senior, who has also been named the NESCAC Player of the Year, NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year, the NEWBA Player of the Year and the D3hoops.com Northeast Region Player of the Year in just the last few weeks.

In addition to being a tri-captain on Bowdoin’s second ever “Final Four” team, Kerrigan is the only player in Bowdoin women’s basketball history to total more than 900 points, 600 rebounds, 300 assists and 200 steals in a career. Averaging 10.7 points per game, Kerrigan also leads the team in rebounds (6.8), assists (4.0) and steals (2.6) this season.
