Re: “Feeling misunderstood, even demonized, 5 Maine gun owners speak out” (March 18):

The polling of Maine residents about gun ownership tells a bigger story applicable to the entire nation: More guns, less gun violence. Chicago has among the highest violent gun-related death rates in the U.S. but some of the strictest gun control laws. Similarly sized Dallas allows concealed and open gun carry and has a gun-related murder rate per 100,000 population less than half that of Chicago.

The debate, as usual, has been distorted by emotion, misinformation promoted as facts and media that refuse to provide balanced reporting.
