GRAY — Alison Martell struck out eight and scored the winning run in the seventh inning Friday as Gray-New Gloucester defeated Wells 7-6 in a Western Maine Conference softball opener.

Trailing 5-2, Wells scored four runs in the top of the seventh, including Abby Hanson’s two-run double that put the Warriors ahead.

In the bottom of the seventh, Gabrielle Sernyk scored on a passed ball to tie the game, and Jordan Grant drove in Martell with a walk-off single.

SOUTH PORTLAND 16, BONNY EAGLE 3: Grace Rende drove in five runs to lead South Portland (2-0) over Bonny Eagle (0-1) in a six-inning game in Standish.

Rende hit a two-run triple to highlight a nine-run third inning for South Portland. Meghan Livingston and Ashlee Aceto each recorded three hits.

Julia Connors earned the win, allowing six hits and three earned runs with two strikeouts. Connors added two hits, including a double.

Sarah Champagne hit a two-run double for Bonny Eagle in the third.

SCARBOROUGH 18, DEERING 0: Chloe Griffin and Mia Kelley combined to toss a no-hitter and the Red Storms (2-0) cruised to a five-inning victory over the Rams (0-2) at Scarborough.

Griffin struck out eight with one walk in four innings and Kelley struck out the side in the fifth. Griffin added a two-run homer in the fourth.

Lindsey Kelley and Emily Jefferds each drove in two runs.

NOBLE 11, KENNEBUNK 2: Mackenzie Aleva finished with two RBI and a home run, and Kelsey Lessard added two hits, including a solo homer, to lift the Knights in an opener in North Berwick.

Raegan Kelly struck out 10, allowing four hits, and also had three hits for Noble.

Brittney Gregoire hit a two-run homer for Kennebunk.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 14, LINCOLN ACADEMY 2: Paige O’Connell went 4 for 4, including a double, and drove in three runs for the Raiders in an opener at Fryeburg.

Brooke Juneau had a pair of hits for Fryeburg, including a two-run triple.

Khloe Poland went 2 for 3 and scored both runs for Lincoln Academy.

HALL-DALE 16, WISCASSET 0: Sarah Benner had four of the Bulldogs’ seven hits and Kailey Roberts pitched a two-hitter in a season-opening win at Wiscasset.

CAPE ELIZABETH 12, LEAVITT 0: Corina Page had three hits to pace a 17-hit offense, including a two-run single to highlight a four-run first inning, as the Capers won a five-inning opener at Cape Elizabeth.

Katie Bozek had a solo home run to spark a six-run fourth for Cape Elizabeth.

Jessica Robicheaw of Cape Elizabeth pitched a two-hitter and also had a pair of hits.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 9, POLAND 5: Addie Jameson had three hits, including a triple and double, with a pair of RBI as the Panthers (1-0) beat the Knights (2-1) at Waldoboro.

Hallie Kunesh had a pair of doubles and drove in two runs, and Josie Jameson added two singles for Medomak.

Ally Gagne had three singles for Poland.

Gabrielle DePatsy picked up the win, striking out eight and walking three.

OAK HILL 12, MT. ABRAM 0: Sadie Waterman had a double, a single and an RBI, and was the winning pitcher as Oak Hill won a five-inning opener at Wales.

Waterman combined with Kiera Young to pitch a one-hitter for Oak Hill. Young added an RBI double to end the game due to the mercy rule.

Cam Wahl singled in the third for Mt. Abram.

LACROSSE

DEERING 9, NOBLE 6: Alli Donovan scored four goals as the Rams (1-0) defeated the Knights (0-2) at Portland.

Kiaya Gatchell had three goals for Deering, and Rachel Pardi and Selam Desa also scored.

Delainy Blaisdell scored five goals for Noble.

THURSDAY’S LACROSSE

PORTLAND 10, BONNY EAGLE 7: Abby Krieckhaus made 12 saves and Caitriona Moran scored three goals as the Bulldogs opened with a victory at Portland.

After a closely played first quarter, Portland pulled into a 7-3 halftime lead. Morgan Kierstead and Isabella More each scored twice for the Bulldogs. Allexius Theberge had three goals for Bonny Eagle.
