RICHMOND

Sydney Underhill-Tilton tossed two shutouts as the Richmond High School softball team swept a doubleheader with St. Dom’s on Monday, taking the opener 10-0, and the nightcap, 14-0.

The Bobcats are 7-0 heading into today’s East-West Conference matchup at Rangeley (4 p.m.).

In the first game, Underhill Tilton struck out 15 and allowed just two hits. She also had a pair of hits, including a double, and drove in three runs.

Mikayla Jackson and Emily Cutter each singled for the Saints, while Skye Rogers struck out four and walked two.

Underhill-Tilton struck out five and permitted three hits in the second game. At the plate, she singled twice, tripled and drove in a pair, while Caitlin Kendrick, Bryannah Shea and Breanna Vintinner each had two hits.

Rogers, Maddie Diaz and Lucy Frenette singled for St. Dom’s.

Host Mt. Ararat improved to 3-6 with a big Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Messalonskee in Topsham.

Ema Hawkes drove in two runs with a double in the sixth inning to give Mt. Ararat a one-run lead.

In the Messalonskee seventh, Amanda O’Neill robbed Makayla Wilson of extra bases with a solid catch, and Jaden Lohr scooped up a hard ground ball and threw to first baseman Emily Wormwood for the final out.

Hawks was 2-for-4, while Kayleigh Temple and Lohr both had two hits. Wormwood chipped in a triple.

Mt. Ararat hosts Lincoln Academy today at 4:15 p.m.

MORSE 12

LINC. ACADEMY 3

At Newcastle, the Shipbuilders rallied from an early 2-0 deficit, scoring five runs in the fourth and seven more in the seventh for a KVAC win.

Dory Kulis and Paige Faulkingham each had three hits for the 7-4 Shipbuilders, who host Gardiner on Wednesday at 4 p.m. Sierra Wallace drove in four runs with two singles, and Micailah Albertson picked up two RBIs with a single, while Maddy Mitchell tripled to score two. Abby Carpenter and Brook Kulis each singled.

On the mound, Dory Kulis struck out seven.

SKOWHEGAN 12

BRUNSWICK 0

Ashley Alward held Brunswick hitless over five innings as Skowhegan defeated the Dragons in KVAC play.

Alward struck out 11 batters through five innings in a game shortened by the mercy rule. Skowhegan committed two errors while Alward walked two batters.

Brunswick held the Indians scoreless in the first inning. In the bottom half of the first, Lexi Guptill reached second base on a throwing error and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Alward retired the next two Dragons.

Skowhegan scored six times in the second inning. The Indians used two hits, three walks and a throwing error to establish their lead.

Skowhegan added four more runs in the third inning, with the big blast provided by Sydney Reed’s two-run double.

Reed and Alward each had two hits as the game’s only repeat hitters.

Brunswick (0-11) visits Lewiston on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Baseball

NEWCASTLE — Jackson Walker pitched six solid innings as Morse rolled to a 6-1 KVAC win over Lincoln Academy.

The Shipbuilders, who host Gardiner on Wednesday at 4 p.m., received a 3-for-4 afternoon from Parker Onorato. Tyreik Foster and Austin Magliozzi each had two hits, while Asa Hodgdon picked up a double.

Walker struck out five.

Girls lacrosse

GORHAM— Jillian Nichols tallied four goals to power Gorham to a 19-10 victory over Morse.

The Shipbuilders trailed 9-5 at the half in falling to 3-4 on the season. Morse hosts Gardiner/Hall-Dale next on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Faith Dillon chipped in two goals in the win, while Peyton Morton picked up a goal and a helper. Haley Keefe dished out three assists.

For Morse, Emily Martin had a game-high five goals, with Emily Belanger and Abbie Baker adding a goal each. Maddie McDonough deposited a goal and an assist.

Zenaide McCarthy and Abby Sreden split time in the Morse cage, combining on 15 saves. Paige Hume turned away nine shots in the Gorham net.

MT. ARARAT 8

Sarah Caron had five goals and an assist to spark the Rams in Augusta in KVAC play.

Lauren Coniff added three goals and Faith Leathers-Pouliot had two for Cony (5-3). Kami Lambert, Sydney Avery and Sierra Clark also scored. Sarah Cooke-Wheeler made four saves.

Fiona Hoang scored four goals for the Eagles (0-7), while Erin Harty had two, and Jessica Cloutier and Shannon Harty scored one apiece.

Casi Perow stopped eight shots.

Tennis

PORTLAND — The seedings for the Maine Principals’Association Singles Tennis Championships have been announced, with play set to take place at Deering Oaks Park Friday and Saturday.

The early rounds of the tournament were held on Saturday, with players advancing from regions played throughout the state.

In the girls competition, Rosemary Campanella of Kennebunk/ Wells is the No. 1 seed, with sister Grace Campanella No. 2. Seeded third is Greely’s Izzy Evans, while No. 4 is Gabrielle Marquis of Caribou.

Brunswick’s Lea Scrapchansky takes the court on Friday at 9: 45 a. m., facing Portland’s Karina Boothe.

Dragon Anna Parker received a bye into the second round and takes on the winner of the Sarah McKnight ( Gorham)- Lauren Bourque ( Messalonskee) match at 5:45 p.m. on Friday.

Boys

Mt. Ararat’s Peter Mao is seeded fourth, behind No. 1 Nick Forester of Falmouth, No. 2 Declan Archer of Kennebunk/ Wells and No. 3 Alex Klemperer of Falmouth.

Mao will face the winner of the first-round match between Charlie O’Brien ( Camden Hills) and Chris Marshall ( Mt. Blue) in the second round at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.

Freeport’s Clay Canterbury is unseeded, but received a bye into the second round will he will face either Joe Crandall of Mt. Blue or Abe LeMole of Oceanside at 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Falcon Wes Goodwin is also in the tournament. He takes on Caribou’s Gabe Rand at 8:30 a.m. on Friday in the opening round. The winner faces Forester in the second round.

The semifinals and championships are slated to be held at Bates College in Lewiston on Monday. The semifinals begin at 9:30 a.m.
