Actors’ Studio ensemble performs ‘Sweeney Todd’

The Midcoast Actors’ Studio Senior Musical Theater Camp will offer three performances of “Sweeney Todd: School Edition,” at 7 p.m. Friday and at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday at Troy Howard Middle School, 173 Lincolnville Ave.

The camp is directed by Jason Bannister, and the music director is Nathan Roach. Sarah Joy is assisting with camp and costumes.

Tickets are $5.

KENNEBUNK

Brick Store Museum offers historical walking tour

The Brick Store Museum will host the following events this week at 117 Main St.:

On Thursday, there will be a Kennebunk Beach history walking tour, beginning at 2 p.m. at Trinity Chapel on Railroad Avenue. Attendees can learn the history of the development of Kennebunk Beach as a tourist destination.

The tour involves a 1-mile loop over 60-90 minutes, led by a trained guide. The cost is $10 and $5 for members.

On Friday, there will be a free BSM at Night event from 5 to 7 p.m. featuring silent films playing from digitized archival films.

On Saturday, there will be a guided historical walking tour of the museum at noon for $5 per person or free for members. A pop-up meditation in the poppy garden will follow from 2 to 3 p.m. A lobster bake will be held at 6 p.m. Tickets for the meal are $65 per person.

Bank, Portsmouth shipyard present summer concerts

Kennebunk Savings and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard will partner to offer free, weekly concerts from 6:30 to 8 p.m. each Tuesday through Aug. 7 at Frisbee Common, 120 Rogers Road.

The Don Campbell Band will be the first featured artist, offering a concert of contemporary country crossover and American rock music.

Attendees may bring blankets. In the event of rain, concerts will be moved indoors.

Event showcases colonial, Native American crafts

The Old Berwick Historical Society welcomes children of all ages to visit on Family Fun Day from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday for crafts inspired by colonial and Native American life in the 1700s.

Admission is free and donations are gratefully accepted.

Children will be guided through optional crafts including colonial silhouettes, whirl-a-gigs, and tiny looms; Native American crafts such as beaded bracelets and musical rattles; and a nature-inspired mobile.

Auditions open for play based on Christie mystery

The Schoolhouse Arts Center will hold auditions for its fall show, “And Then There Were None,” a murder mystery by Agatha Christie.

Auditions will be held from noon to 2:30 p.m. Sunday and from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the center, 16 Richville Road.

Show dates are Sept. 28 through Oct. 7. Those auditioning should be prepared to do cold readings from the script.

P.A.W.S. Heroes Gala honors animal advocates

P.A.W.S. Animal Adoption Center will host the second annual P.A.W.S. Heroes Gala on July 11 to celebrate the service of three everyday heroes for homeless and abandoned animals.

This year’s event will be held at 16 Bay View in Camden and will offer a three-course meal provided by Stone Cove Catering. David Rosenfelt, best-selling mystery writer and the author of “Rescued” and “Dogtripping” will be this year’s keynote speaker.

Honorees at this year’s event are Martha Martens, recipient of the 2018 Margaret Morey Lifetime Achievement Award for her many years of service to the organization and for being a tireless advocate for animals. Additional awards will be presented to Jacob Pendleton of Camden, the 2018 Outstanding Youth Volunteer of the Year; and to Heidi V. Neal, owner of Loyal Biscuit, the 2018 Business Partner of the Year.
