I am urging Sens. Angus King and Susan Collins and my U.S. representative, Chellie Pingree, to use their voices and actions to do the following:
• Pass legislation to protect the investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller.
• Subpoena Donald Trump’s tax and business records to see what leverage Russia may have on him.
• Pass a tougher sanctions law that doesn’t let Trump wriggle out of them.
• Hold hearings on what has and hasn’t been done to protect America from Russia.
• Subpoena the interpreter at the Helsinki summit to find out what Trump actually said to Vladimir Putin.
• Pass a joint resolution saying Russia interfered in the elections to help Trump.
• Mandate that Trump have a stenographer present for everything he does during the work day.
These actions need to be taken.
