Let Ford have her day

In preparation for a Senate judicial subcommittee appearance, Judge Brett Kavanaugh has received legal protection and has been coached to look his best by a select team of Trump associates at the White House while Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and her family have fled into hiding after she has had her email hacked and she has received death threats.

Through her lawyers, Dr. Ford has made a request that the FBI investigate the events that she has described 30 odd years ago before she testifies. The FBI will find people who were present at the party and can remember who was there. They will read Mark Judge’s books and see if some of his writings illuminate the typical behavior of Kavanaugh. and Judge. In other words, their investigation will establish the facts of the situation so that senators in the committee hearing will be able to develop questions for the witnesses.

The FBI routinely provides this investigatory service. They did so before Anita Hill testified. Let Dr. Ford have her day describing what happened, but let it be according to the usual rules of senate hearings.

Red light district

Let’s face it. The red arrow at the intersection of Stanwood, Pleasant and Mill streets in Brunswick is a disaster. It must go. It serves no useful purpose. There have been comments that traffic coming out of Stanwood Street is difficult for some folks. There are two westbound lanes on Pleasant Street. The left lane is for Stanwood traffic and the right lane for Mill Street. Sometimes it’s necessary for Stanwood drivers to be a bit more aggressive when rightfully moving into their own lane on Pleasant Street. If being aggressive is a problem for some, they can merely go up McKeen Street and on to Church Street to comfortably enter Pleasant Street at the traffic light. There is absolutely no reason to back traffic up on Mill Street for up to a mile or more. It takes a long, long time for cars at a standstill to start moving again once the red arrow turns green, and then it’s red again! Perhaps the powers that be in the State who created this idea don’t realize the utter chaos they have created. Please Mr. State put that red arrow back in your quiver.
