WATERVILLE — Luke Lockwood scored with 12:35 remaining in regulation to give the Bowdoin College men’s soccer team its fifth straight win, 1-0, at Colby on Tuesday afternoon.

The Polar Bears improved to 7-3 (3-2 NESCAC), while the Mules fell to 5-4-2 (2-3-2 NESCAC).

Lockwood notched the game-winning goal from a low angle to the left side of the goal, crossing the ball to the front of the cage where it slipped past Colby netminder Dan Carlson to give the Polar Bears a 1-0 lead.

Colby’s best chance to score came off the foot of Colin Sullivan with 25:55 left in the second half. Jeff Rosenberg won a ball near the left end line and quickly crossed the ball to Sullivan, who nailed a one-timer that was stopped by Chris Kingston.

Alex Chaban looked to have the go-ahead goal minutes before Lockwood’s marker, but Dan Carlson made a diving stop to keep the game scoreless.

Kingston was outstanding for Bowdoin, stopping a career-high eight shots in his second shutout of the season. Colby held a 12-9 advantage in shots and both teams took six corner kicks.
