SANFORD –  Sanford Parks and Recreation Department recently  teamed up with the Sanford-Springvale YMCA to make improvements to the skate park and surrounding area on Emile Levasseur Drive. Rec director Alan Grady said  the Parks and Rec Department received a grant to use on skate park improvements.

“With this, we installed two  new elements, a quarter pipe and crescent ledge,” he said. “Thank you go out to a group of volunteers including Mike Bagley, Devon Brennan, and Josh Bridge for helping to assemble the ramps, together with Tony Hartford, the owner of TC Hafford Waterproofing, who donated the tools to help build them.

As well, the YMCA recently made some landscaping renovations to the properties as part of their facility expansion.

Grady said additional improvements by Sanford Park and Recreation Department will include the installation of  fencing to separate the skate park and parking lot along with several outdoor fitness elements to be placed alongside the trails in that area.
