RICHMOND — Hannah Moholland finished off her 15-point performance with the winning free throw to lift the Richmond High School girls basketball team to a 41-40 Mountain Valley Conference victory over Dirigo on Monday.

The Bobcats improved to 4-7 and host Wiscasset on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Dirigo fell to 3-7.

Richmond led 16-12, 27-20 and 33-29 at the quarter breaks, but the Cougars battled back behind 14 points from Alexa Varnum and six from Page Lueders.

Moholland chipped in five steals and five rebounds in the win, with Bryanne Lancaster adding eight points and nine boards. Caitlin Kendrick (six points, six steals, four assists) and Lindsie Irish (five points, five rebounds) also stood out for the Bobcats, who have won two straight.

Richmond was solid at the free-throw line, making 10-of-14. Dirigo was 17-of-22 at the charity stripe.

The visiting Roadrunners held the Wolverines without a point in the third quarter to take control in MVC makeup action.

Mt. Abram led 25-11 at the half. A 15-0 third frame upped the lead to 29 points.

Alice Yokabaskas led Wiscasset (0-11) with six points and six rebounds, with Kateleen Trask adding five points. Zoey Waltz (seven rebounds) and Sydnie Thayer (six rebounds) were solid on the boards.

Freshman Cheyenne Cahill’s 24 points powered the Cobras to the MVC win in North Anson.

Brooke Welch added eight points for Carrabec (3-9), which held quarter leads of 10-4, 23-13 and 31-22.

Carly Drischler paced Lisbon (1-9) with 12 points, with Charlee Cox adding 10 points.

The Greyhounds host Mountain Valley on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Boys basketball

LISBON — DJ Douglass led all scorers with 28 points as Lisbon rolled to a 70-35 MVC win over Carrabec.

Owen Fish added 11 for the Greyhounds, who improved to 6-4 and hosts Madison tonight at 7 p.m.

Nikkolas Dube paced Carrabec with a team-high 13 points.

Mt. Abram 67
Wiscasset 50

Mt. Abram recovered from a six-point third-quarter deficit for an MVC win over Wiscasset.

The Wolverines (1-9) led 31-28 at the half and sprinted out to a 42-36 advantage to open the second half.

But, the Roadrunners kept the hosts off the board for more than seven minutes, extending out to a 50-42 advantage after 24 minutes.

Matt Chapman paced Wiscasset  with 16 points, followed by Chris Loyola with 14.

Mt. Abram was led by Nate Luce’s 18 points, with Hunter Warren finishing with 12, and Kenyon Pillsbury and Jackson Masterson 10 apiece.

The Wolverines visit Dirigo tonight at 7 p.m.

Girls hockey

BRUNSWICK — Greely/Gray-New Gloucester netted eight first-period goals en route to an 8-2 victory over Brunswick at Sidney J. Watson Arena.

Madison Pelletier led the Rangers (5-8) with three goals. Jayme Morrison had a goal and two assists in the win.

Elena Palmer tallied both Brunswick goals (1-12-1), while Greta White had a pair of assists for the Dragons.

Ainsley Harrower made the start in net for Brunswick, turning away eight shots, while Zahira MacLean stopped 14 in the win.

Brunswick will face Mt. Ararat/Morse on Wednesday at Watson Arena, with puck drop set for 6:15 p.m.
