BRUNSWICK — Brunswick tallied three first-period goals and held off Mt. Ararat/Morse for a 5-3 girls high school hockey victory at Sidney J. Watson Arena.

Dragons senior Shea Sullivan opened the scoring with an unassisted goal five minutes into the contest. Moments later, Beth  Labbe gave the Dragons a two-goal advantage before Elena Palmer’s power-play goal with 12 seconds remaining provided the home team a 3-0 lead after 15 minutes.

Ema Hawkes put the Eagles on the board with an unassisted goal to open the second frame. Following another Palmer goal, Amber Card cut the Dragon lead in half off a Brie Hunter assist.

Labbe pushed the Brunswick lead back to three goals with another unassisted goal after skating the length of the ice to beat keeper Gabby Mason for the score.

Maddie Young scored seconds later for Mt. Ararat/Morse, but the Dragons held on for the two-goal victory.

Mason made 15 saves on 20 shots, while Brunswick’s Ainsley Harrower made 11 stops in the victory.

Brunswick (2-12-1) hosts Falmouth on Saturday (4:30 p.m.) and the Eagles (1-10-1) travel to St. Dom’s for an 8:30 p.m. game that same evening.

Girls basketball

LISBON — Rylee Sevigny scored 15 points to Mountain Valley to a 55-20 Mountain Valley Conference win over Lisbon.

The Falcons (9-3) used solid start to each half to take control, rolling to a 16-2 lead after a quarter and extending a 27-13 halftime edge to 44-15 after three.

Saydie Garbarini and Kierstyn Lyons chipped in 10 points apiece in the win.

Kiley Merritt paced Lisbon (1-10) with six points, while Sydney Plourde and Destiney Deschaines added four points each.

The Greyhounds visit Oak Hill on Friday at 7 p.m.
