Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office deputies on Monday updated their description of the firearm from an earlier news release. In the update, they said Coughlin was found to be in possession of a Benjamin Bulldog .357 high powered air-rifle, as well as a Molotov cocktail.

Police had responded to a report of shots fired at the Econo Lodge, located on Triphammer Road in Ithaca on Friday, according to a news release from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies allegedly found bullet holes in one of the hotel rooms, located Coughlin, and took him into custody.

According to the news release, Coughlin was arraigned on Friday in the Town of Dryden Court by Judge Christopher Clauson and remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond. Deputies on Monday said Coughlin posted bail on Saturday.

Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office Senior Investigator Jody Coombs on Monday said Coughlin is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but indicated that appearance could be waived since he has posted bail.

There were no indication anyone was injured.
