The Brunswick Downtown Association Annual Meeting was held Jan. 23 at Daggett Lounge in Thorne Hall on the Bowdoin College Campus. The theme of the meeting was “The Brunswick Town Mall – The Pride of Our
Community.”
Matthew Orlando, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer of Bowdoin College, introduced BDA board members and conducted the election of incoming BDA board members and officers.
Annual recognition awards were presented to a number of people and organizations, including Pathway Vineyard Church, which received BDA Member of the Year. Pastor Kyle Gabri and volunteers from the church are members of the BDA and are considered active members the community, according to a BDA press release. In addition to
participating in BDA events like the Community BBQ and the Rolling Slumber Bed Races, Pathway also decorates a bed for each race and provides hot cocoa and cookies during the event.
Morning Glory Natural Foods received the award for BDA Business of the Year. Morning Glory, celebrating 38 years on Maine Street this year, is a family owned, independent natural food store that specializes in local and organically grown foods. They have been BDA members since 1981, when it was originally formed as The Brunswick Intown Group.
David Knight received the award for BDA Volunteer of the Year. Knight, a Brunswick resident, has been a BDA board member since 2010 and has filled many roles in the organization including Secretary and Speaking
Events Committee Chairperson.
Debora King, BDA Executive Director, gave the State of the Association update during the annual meeting, accompanied by a slide show and a video titled “The Brunswick Town Mall – The Pride of Our
