READING, Pa. — C.J. Chatham hit a two-run double in the third inning, and Josh Tobias doubled twice and singled as the Portland Sea Dogs defeated the Reading Fightin Phils 9-2 on Monday.

The double by Chatham started the scoring in a four-run inning and gave the Sea Dogs a 2-0 lead. Later in the inning, Bobby Dalbec hit an RBI double and then scored on a single by Brett Netzer.

Following the big inning, the Fightin Phils cut into the deficit in the bottom of the frame when Darick Hall hit an RBI single, scoring Adam Haseley.

The Sea Dogs later scored in three additional innings to put the game away, including three runs in the sixth.

Portland right-hander Tanner Houck (1-1) picked up the win after allowing one run on four hits over five innings. Opposing starter David Parkinson (1-1) took the loss in the Eastern League game after allowing five runs and five hits over five innings.

Portland hit a season-high six doubles in its victory.
