BRUNSWICK — Sam Sharpe doubled twice, tripled and singled to lead the Brunswick High School baseball team to a 10-4 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over Morse on Wednesday.

The Dragons improved to 3-5, while the Shipbuilders fell to 4-4. 

Sharpe was 4-for-4, drove in two runs and scored twice to power Brunswick, with Henry Burnham going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and a double. Noah Goddard and Coenradt Taylor picked up two hits each, with Sam Masse adding a double.

Goddard earned the win, pitching 6 1/3 innings on eight hits, five walks and six strikeouts. Alex Dunton closed with a walk and one strikeout.

Ty Knowlton had two hits for Morse, which hosts Medomak Valley today at 4 p.m. Jackson Walker singled and drove in a run, with Asa Hodgdon scoring a run. 

Knowlton and Brogan Shaw combined on five strikeouts and two walks on the mound.

Brunswick visits Edward Little today at 4 p.m. 

Freeport 9,
Old Orchard Beach 1

Anthony Panciocco pitched four solid innings and helped himself with an RBI single as the Falcons rolled to a Western Maine Conference win over the Seagulls. 

Freeport (6-2) pounded out 13 hits, led by Liam Holt with three (two singles, double, two runs, two RBIs). Gabe Wagner tripled and singled, with Toby Holt and Ben Monahan-Morang chipping in a double and a single each.

Liam Holt and Blaine Cockburn combined to pitch three innings in relief.

The Falcons host Lincoln Academy on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Lisbon 15, Bridgeway 0

The host Greyhounds put up a 12-spot in the fourth inning en route to a Mountain Valley Conference win over Madison/Carrabec (0-6). 

DJ Douglass pitched four scoreless innings on five strikeouts, one walk and five hits. Neil LaRochelle finished, going one inning with two strikeouts and a walk. 

Noah Austin, LaRochelle and Douglass led Lisbon (6-0) with two hits each as the Greyhounds pounded out eight hits. Hunter Brissette tripled, scored two runs and drove in one. 

Seth Wescott went 2-for-2 for Bridgeway.

The Greyhounds visit Hall-Dale today at 4 p.m.

Edward Little 5, Mt. Ararat 3

Pitcher Ben Cassidy had three singles and three runs batted in as the Red Eddies (6-3) held on to beat the host Eagles (6-3) in KVAC action at Bowdoin College.

The Red Eddies took a 3-0 lead in the first inning on two of Cassidy’s three RBIs. Jake Arel scored twice for Edward Little.

The Eagles scored twice in the bottom of the seventh. Austin Damon had a double for Mt. Ararat, which visits Camden Hills today at 4:30 p.m.

Richmond 30, Valley 1

The Bobcats scored 12 runs in the first inning to cruise to the East-West Conference win in Richmond.

Mitch Couturier hit three doubles for Richmond (3-2), while Andrew Vachon had a double and a triple. Adam Beaulieu homered for the Bobcats, who had 30 hits.

Valley dropped to 0-4.

Softball

OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Freeport scored 12 runs in the fifth inning to pull away for a 20-5 WMC win over Old Orchard Beach. 

The Falcons improved to 4-4 and host Lincoln Academy on Saturday at 11 a.m. 

Alexa Koenig, Brook Pawlowski and Sarah Gray picked up three hits apiece, with Brooke Toothaker and Alexys Langley adding a pair of base-knocks.

Megan Pelletier led the Seagulls with an RBI single.

Wiscasset 15,
Mountain Valley 13

The visiting Wolverines rallied with four runs in the seventh inning for their first MVC win of the season (1-6). 

Sydnie Thayer of Wiscasset pitched a complete game and earned the win, while also adding two hits of her own.

The Falcons (0-5) committed nine errors. Mountain Valley’s Courtney Carrier took the loss.

Wiscasset hosts Oak Hill on Friday (4 p.m.) and visits Dirigo on Saturday (11 a.m.)

Madison 6, Lisbon 4

The visiting Bulldogs scored two runs in the sixth inning to break a 4-4 tie on the way to an MVC win over the Greyhounds. 

Trailing 4-1 in the third, Lisbon (2-2) rallied for three consecutive runs. 

Landon Landry was 3-for-5 with one RBI for Madison (8-0), with Emily Edgerly going 3-for-4 with two RBIs. Katie Worthen, Brooke McKenny, Louria Leblanc and Jessica Turcotte added a single each. 

Leblanc and McKenny combined for 14 strikeouts, eight hits and three walks on the mound. 

Mallory Fairbanks and Kiley Merritt each picked up three hits for Lisbon. Erica Hill pitched 5 1/3 innings, while Fairbanks tossed 1 2/3 frames. The duo combined for two strikeouts, four walks and 15 hits.

Lisbon visits Hall-Dale today at 4 p.m. 

Edward Little 7, Mt. Ararat 1

The visiting Red Eddies jumped out to a 2-0 first-inning lead and pulled away for a KVAC win over Mt. Ararat at Topsham. 

The Eagles (0-9) head to Camden Hills today at 4:30 p.m.

Jordan Cummings had a pair of hits for EL, with Ema Hawkes the lone repeat hitter for Mt. Ararat. 

Bre Hunter walked in the Eagles’ fourth inning and scored on a long double by Bella West. Mt. Ararat left the bases loaded in the fifth and two more runners in scoring position in the seventh.

Chantel Ouellette picked an RBI triple for EL, and the Red Eddies put the game away with three runs in the sixth. 

Hannah Smith earned the mound win, while Megan Reed pitched for Mt. Ararat. 

Richmond 10, Valley 2

Bryanne Lancaster tossed a two-hitter and doubled in a run as the Bobcats cruised to an E-WC win over Valley at Richmond.

The Bobcats, 2-2 and slated to visit Sacopee Valley today at 4 p.m., received a pair of hits from Jaiden Alexander. 

Lancaster struck out nine and walked two.

Girls lacrosse

AUBURN — Maddie McDonough, Emily Belanger and Nikki Brazee combined for 10 goals to power Morse to a 14-5 KVAC win over Edward Little at Walton Field. 

McDonough had four goals, Belanger three goals and two assists, and Brazee a hat trick and one helper as the Shipbuilders improved to 3-3. Morse hosts Gorham on Monday at 5 p.m. 

The game was close in the first half, with Morse holding a 5-3 halftime lead.  The Shipbuilders broke it open in the second half, holding the Red Eddies scoreless for nearly 18 minutes. 

Marija Medenica, Delaney Pascuzzo and Mary LaRochelle picked up a goal each in the win, with Medenica, Sydney Moore, Althea Rogenes, Emma Roth Wells, Paige Willis and Emma Warner adding an assist apiece. 

Megan Steele paced Edward Little with four goals, while Lydia Celani chipped in a goal and two helpers.

Kailey Hart had seven saves for the Red Eddies, with Abby Sreden turning away nine shots in the Morse cage. 

Freeport 13, NYA 8

Margaret Perrotta powered her way to five goals to lead the Falcons to an WMC victory over North Yarmouth Academy at Freeport. 

Molly Whelan (two goals, assist), Allison Greuel (two goals), Savannah Tracy (two goals), Paige Rinaldi (one goal), Meredith Feller (one goal) and Maggie Ryan (one assist) figured in the Freeport (5-1) scoring. Perrotta led with nine draw control wins, four caused turnovers and five ground balls. Greuel had six draw controls, with Maggie Ryan leading the Freeport defense. 

Emma Sharp, Maggie Holt and Catherine Reid each tallied two goals for the Panthers. 

Freeport keeper Piper Sherbert made seven saves, while NYA goalie Maya Davis had eight stops.

Lewiston 14, Mt. Ararat 0

Goalie Cece Racine recorded a shutout as Lewiston downed visiting Mt. Ararat.

The Blue Devils (4-2) jumped out to a 10-0 halftime lead. Christine Chasse and Erin Lachance netted three goals apiece for Lewiston.

Goalie Amanda Pickens faced 28 shots and fended off 11 for the Eagles, who fell to 1-5 and host Cony at Bowdoin College on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
