
South Portland junior ace Hunter Owen was named Thursday as Maine’s winner of the Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year award. Owen, a left-handed pitcher, who also wields a potent bat, had a 3-0 record with a 0.00 ERA through 11 games, surrendering just nine hits and issuing six walks in 27 innings pitched, while striking out 51 batters. Owen also has a 3.8 GPA.
