BRUNSWICK — Katherine Page scored a pair of second-half goals to lead the Bowdoin College women’s soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Endicott on Tuesday afternoon.

The Polar Bears extended their winning streak to four games and improved to 4-4-1 while Endicott fell to 6-4.

After the opening five minutes, Bowdoin controlled the pace of play for the remainder of the opening half but were kept off the scoreboard thanks to several sparkling saves from Endicott netminder Kayla Wentworth. Bowdoin’s best chance to break through came on a series of plays about 15 minutes into the match when Wentworth made a leaping save on Bowdoin’s Olivia Pena, and then two minutes later, stopped another great chance by Rachael Peacock.

Bowdoin held a 7-3 edge in shots and 5-0 lead in corners at halftime.

The Polar Bears finally broke through in the 62nd minute when an initial shot by Peacock was deflected by an Endicott defender. The ball skipped to the top of the box, where Page stepped into it and drove it under the crossbar for a 1-0 lead.

The Gulls had their best chance to tie the score with 19 minutes remaining when a long ball slipped through the Bowdoin defense to Lindsey Papa, who broke in alone on Bowdoin goaltender Penny Rocchio. Papa’s strike was punched away by Rocchio to preserve the one-goal lead.
