Ruby Louise Lord Hussey

BOWDOINHAM – Ruby Louise Lord Hussey, 86, passed away with family by her side on Oct. 14, 2019 in her beloved town of Bowdoinham. She was born on Jan. 18, 1933 in Southbridge, Mass. as a first generation American from Irish and Canadian immigrant parents. 
Ruby lived a life full of family, outdoor work and adventure, books, animals and creativity. Among many other things, Ruby built a wood and canvas kayak, many large and small papier mache sculptures featured on her front lawn, in newspaper coverage and in businesses and schools. Ruby raised goats, chickens, geese and welcomed a donkey and hinny to the farm on Old Post Road. She read thousands of books. Ruby ran a boarding house at the farm and worked as a Registered Nurse in various health care facilities.  
She will be remembered for her unique sense of humor strong sense of principle, love of working in the dirt, sewing, watercolor painting, as well as her mental library of books and old American and Canadian folk songs.  
Ruby was predeceased by her sister Vera, brother Ernie; and great-granddaughter, Nova Reign Kalberg. 
She is survived by her sister, Alma; sons, Arthur M. Hussey III, and Nathaniel D. Hussey and daughter, Mary A. Stride; her grandchildren, Julianna Daley-Hussey, Olive, Fiona and Ryan Twombly-Hussey, Liam Stride and Samuel Stride; and her great-granddaughter, Calista AnnaLee Kalberg.
